When I’m looking for new places to stay with my family I always check out the hotel website just to see if they mention anything about being family friendly. So often these days you can book a room online and assume that because it sleeps 4+ people that they will be welcoming to you and your kids when you arrive. Many times it’s not the case!

When I was researching hotels in Hobart I came across the RACV/RACT Hobart Apartment Hotel and on their website they had a section dedicated to ‘Hobart for Kids’. Hooray, a hotel that cares about families!

They have great rooms available for families which have been recently renovated. Plus if you stay in a couple of months time then you’ll get to enjoy their brand new redevelopment of the ground floor area, including their restaurant, which is currently under construction.

When we arrived we found lovely welcome gifts not only for the adults (wine and chocolate, woo hoo!) but also for the kids! Bailee and Jasper were so excited about their kids packs that they got stuck into them straight away.

The room was in fact two rooms that interconnected which meant that the kids had their own space, own bathroom and own tv. They had even thought ahead and cleared out the kids mini bar so that there was no sneaking chocolate bars for a midnight snack.

In our room was a small self-contained kitchenette with a fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, electric frypan, microwave and other kitchen bits and pieces. We also got our own bedroom and bathroom which had a bathtub and separate shower.

The washing machine sure came in handy the night Jasper decided to pour a tub of tomato sauce all over himself! Glad I didn’t have to cart a saucy t-shirt back to Sydney.

Breakfast is buffet style, which the kids always enjoy, and currently held in the restaurant set up in the main foyer area. Although its in a temporary spot you wouldn’t know it as everything is all set up and very inviting.

The hotel is located in the CBD area of Hobart but is only a short walk to pretty much everywhere! We wandered down to the harbour for dinner and to Salamanca Markets on Saturday morning. The hotel also has undercover parking available so its easy to have a hire car there for adventures further out of the city. Not only is this a great hotel for a family holiday but its also in a great location for a work trip that the family tag along on!

We enjoyed a few of the local restaurants for dinner, one night ordering take away and eating it in the hotel room which had all the bowls, plates and cutlery that we needed. I was also impressed by the room service menu, its affordability and kids menu!

RACV also have other resort locations around Australia with fantastic kids facilities, so jump online and check them out.

We loved having the opportunity to stay at the RACV/RACT Hobart Apartments Hotel and highly recommend it to families heading down to Hobart.
